Alternative HipHop.. Sad Rap.. Emo Rap.. Sad Trap.. and so on.. A thousand genre names stabbing hopelessly in the dark trying oh so hard to define a certain style of sound waves and rhythms as they vibrate through the air..
Like many, I often exist trapped in the confines of labels.. which is why I find one of the most refreshing things about Eremitic to be his ability to exist in many genres at once without really existing in any of them... although when asked for a genre, he, like many of the younger "soundcloud generation" that makes similarly hard to define sounds, will simply just say "Alt-rock".
As someone who can appreciate a label.. Alt-rock will do just fine..
(Forward and bio written by Hidden for HRSUnderground)
Eremitic started out producing tracks for Hidden and other various artists in the underground under the moniker "A Dude Named Drew", it was not long before he started getting known for his ability to bring the darkest sounds to life in a way that few others can.. However, simply expressing himself through instrumentals alone would not do the trick, and this young artist out of Shrewsbury, England knew early on that he had much more to offer..
"I always wanted the ability to express myself vocally rather than just through the beats. I wanted my art to be more than just beats.. I wanted to express myself in the fullest". -Eremitic in response to being asked about why he makes music.
And express himself he did .. diving head first into making tracks, it was not long before Eremitic finished his first playlist titled ColdNightsAndBlueScreens . Although it wasn't till one of the last tracks of his first playlist, Staring at the Stars , that Eremitic started hitting his stride as an artist.
Now several months into his latest playlist, Unconcerned and on the heels of creating his first music video Eremitic is not planning on slowing down anytime soon.. "Right now I am focusing on just getting together as much music as I can, as well as continuing to produce projects for others..."
Expect a lot more from Eremitic down the road as HRSUnderground continues its expansion across the #Underground .. above all, I think many of us could stand to follow Eremitic's lead and learn a bit about being open to different sounds and possibilities instead of living inside a restrictive bubble that can often times lead to stifled creativity .. After all, does it all have to be so thought out and complicated all the time?? I think not.. and tend to think Eremitic agrees..
"I am just trying to make people sing along with me! I just make what I feel and of course have fun sometimes..." -Eremitic
